No bid at the 2018 National Yearling Sale consigned by Spring Valley Stud as LOT 227

From the first South African crop of the outstanding racehorse and successful sire, Linngari, there were no takers at the minimum bid of R100 000 for yearlings offered on the Select Session of last year’s NYS. A medium sized, but beautifully balanced colt, the son of 7 x winning Gr.3 Model Man mare, Precedent, he was always likely to need time to furnish and in these trying economic times, not many buyers were willing to wait that long so he was passed in without a bid.

Tracy Woollard was tasked with breaking him and always loved his willing attitude and fluent movement before sending him to Team Houdalakis to try and put him together which they partially achieved when selling 45% to Messrs Boonzaaier and Naidoo. After a 6f pipe opener, it was agreed to geld and he won his second start over the Vaal mile in good fashion, quickening away from his field after a troubled passage in a rough race. Given his Classic female line and the Group performances of Linngari’s progeny in Europe over the staying trips, it is hard not to dream of big race glory with natural improvement and strengthening.
