Lot 17 -
Bought at the 2016 National Yearling Sale for R450 000 from Wilgerbosdrift Stud as LOT 427
One of the best walking yearlings on the Sale, Salimah added quality and pedigree to the mix which made her hard to resist! She joined Dennis Drier as a late two year old and showed tremendous ability in her track work. Heavily backed on debut, she quickened away from her field over the 5f Scottsville trip in the style of a classy sprinter.
Such was the Drier’s opinion of her ability that she joined his Cape Town string for a tilt at the summer feature races. However, 2017 coincided with one of the worst droughts in living memory and like many other travellers to the Cape in those years, she lost her form completely despite any veterinary evidence to explain why her work remained of a high standard, yet her racecourse performances were below par.
She remains sound in wind and limb and perhaps a change of scenery will do the trick? She hails from a class HRH Aga Khan female line and being by Trippi, offers breeders an opportunity to buy into a quality pedigree virtually free of Northern Dancer.
